Bio:
In Dundalk’s second Free State League season of 1927-28 the outstanding performance was from Eddie Carroll—his 38 goals would only be topped once in the club’s history. His permanent inside partners were Andy Kane and John Mathieson.
With Jimmy Withers on the right wing and Billy Emerson in the half back line, this group established Dundalk’s early reputation as a ‘football’ team and made them a popular attraction wherever they travelled.
Andy came from Belfast Bohemians, had Irish League experience with Larne and in 1924 had represented the Irish Alliance against the Preston and Bradford Leagues. After his Dundalk season he returned to Larne.
