Bio:

From Irish League Intermediate club Brantwood, right-winger Edward Swindle (5ft 5in) was a first team regular in the club’s inaugural Free State League season, only Fred Norwood (28) and Fred Bell (26) appearing more often.

Edward had the distinction of scoring the very first League of Ireland goal ever scored at Glenmalure Park when Dundalk played Shamrock Rovers on September 11th 1926 in a 3-3 League match at the Hoop’s new Milltown pitch.

He later turned out with Cork club Fordsons.

What They Said About Him

“Fast, clever at swerving and a good shot” was the Dundalk Democrat’s assessment of his performance in the opening day fixture against Fordsons.
